YachtWorld listing policies

Some years ago, YachtWorld.com was the first company to ask brokers to comply with certain rules when listing their boats on the internet. Today, maintenance of these procedures is a daily task, which begins when you make a boat live. Pressing SAVE means that your boat complies with those policies, requiring you to have a signed Listing Agreement from the vendor of the boat, or have the boat in stock. You can read these policies here.

Duplicate listings often appear in YachtWorld.com when a vendor asks more than one broker to represent him. Sadly, this remains an unavoidable fact of life with some vendors. On occasion, these duplicates are made worse by the creation of rogue entries from brokers, or new boats entered by dealers where they do not have the boat in stock. The latter are sometimes known as “ghost boats”.

Some websites allow this sort of behaviour, or simply fail to police it. YachtWorld does not.

Our procedure for reporting such infractions is tried and tested. To report an infraction against one of your boats, write to the offending broker concerned with a copy to [email protected]. If he does not respond by taking care of the problem within 24 hours, forward the original email to [email protected] (with a copy to [email protected]) and the listing will be removed while YachtWorld investigates.

YachtWorld membership has been suspended in the past for brokers who fail to comply with these Policies. Your help in keeping the site a fair reflection of your vendor’s wishes is invaluable. Thank you.
