We wrote to you on December 6th explaining changes to the way we distribute your boat listings to the websites of the various IPC Marine magazines, using our ‘On Target’ service. At that time IPC had unexpectedly announced that, with effect from February 8th 2008, they would no longer accept your boats as before.

We have now had the opportunity to review these arrangements with IPC and Rightboat.com, with whom IPC have chosen to work as they develop their own boat database over the next few months. As a result we can confirm that the existing automatic export of your boat listings from BoatWizard CAN continue, but that IPC have imposed additional costs for the service.

In summary, we will continue to export your boat data to IPC using our Boatstream data distribution software. As before the charge for this feed remains at £25 per month. We will not be charging additional fees for additional magazine websites – these fees will now need to be agreed with your IPC sales representative.

Until IPC complete their own boat listing interface they are insisting that we forward your boat data to them via a Rightboat.com server. Importantly, we have agreed on your behalf that it will NOT be necessary for you to join Rightboat.com in order for your boats to appear on the magazine websites of your choice, NOR will your boats appear on Rightboat.com itself unless you choose and pay for that to happen.

While this arrangement is more complicated than necessary, we are happy to have managed to maintain the opportunity for you to advertise your listings on the IPC sites. Please contact your IPC rep and let us know, before February 8th, which websites you have chosen to display your boats.
