As a result of your feedback and some recent trials, we are pleased to announce four significant new improvements to the YachtWorld Brokers Village for the PSP Southampton Boat Show. The changes include:
1. Location – in our first appearance at Southampton, the Brokers Village was between the Sunseeker stand and the Guinness Bar. This turned out to be not as good as it looked on paper, so the Brokers Village has moved to the front of Mayflower Park, overlooking the main marina. You will walk past it as you head towards the exit next to the BMF Lounge and the Red Funnel terminal. This is a significantly higher traffic area, and we will be seeking to maximise it in the design of the stand for 2010
2. Buyer enquiries – we successfully trialled a new way of delivering leads in London this year, which we are now going to employ at all Brokers Villages. The new system means that you will get to see the contact details and requirements of every registered buyer who visits the stand. You will receive a spreadsheet at the end of every day showing you who has registered and what they were looking for. This allows you to send out any of your boats that we may have missed at the time and helps you to keep in touch with every buyer long after the show has finished. In London, we sent out the details of over 195 clients to every one of the participating brokers, whereas at Southampton last year each broker received an average of around nine leads each.
3. New listings – we will continue to collect as many new listings for you as we can. In order to help you sign them up faster, we will now send them out at the end of every day, instead of at the end of the Show. As before, you will get the vendors full contact details and as much information as we can glean about the boat he is trying to sell
4. ABYA and BRBA – the Brokers Village at Southampton will be run in partnership with the Association of Brokers and Yacht Agents (ABYA) and the Boat Retailers and Brokers Association (BRBA). Both associations will be using the Brokers Village to champion professional yacht brokerage by helping the public with questions on VAT, import duty, contracts, escrow, sea trials, surveys and customs warehousing. YachtWorld will be supporting this effort with articles in the YachtWorld Magazine on the same subject. BRBA and ABYA will also be using the show to launch their new joint Brokerage Certification Scheme
