Released in partnership with Sail America, the sailing market’s industry trade group, YachtWorld.com’s report on sailboats sold in AugustĀ proved steady against the previous three months, but still behind sales for sailboats in 2008. As reported by brokers in SoldBoats.com, unit sales of 523 sailboats were in the same range as May, June, and July (523-552 boats), which was 12 percent to 28 percent off 2008 unit sales. Valuation has been more erratic, and generally farther off the pace, as the report indicates. If you already read the August Flash Report (below), which shows overall market (power and sail) improvement to the point that both unit sales and valuations are ahead of August ’08, you know that it’s the powerboat side has been leading the way. Your feedback on this report and others is always appreciated.
