Slow-loading websites are a major frustration to their users, often resulting in visitors simply going elsewhere to carry out their research. YachtWorld has continuously benchmarked the best consumer sites in Europe to maintain a competitive advantage and have just used this knowledge to complete yet more improvements here in www.boatwizard.com and on the public sites ukwp.qa.yachtworld.com and ukwp.qa.boats.com. These changes happened earlier this month and a subsequent report by Keynote Systems Inc, a leading performance measurement company, shows that the average load times have improved by 34% across Europe and North America.
There are two primary reasons for this increase in performance. Because the physical distance between a boat buyer and the location of the website he is visiting plays a major part in determining load times, our first action was to create a content distribution network to place images/photos closer to the internet “backbone”. The second is that we physically moved all our servers over 3,000 miles closer to the majority of our consumers.
Brokers and buyers are now viewing web pages that load 34% faster than they were just a few days ago. These differences may only be measured in 10ths of a second, but it all helps make for a more efficient and effective experience.
